I made up my mind late last year. I was going to start a blog. I’ve never blogged before, but I’ve also never had a problem sharing my honest opinion and thoughts with people, especially people like me who have multiple sclerosis. I’m pretty much an open book — there aren’t many topics that are off-limits.
But why go public with a blog?
As part of my role as a patient advocate for an MS drug company, I’ve been talking with MS patients for years — hearing their concerns, sharing my stories and letting them know in some small way that there is a reason to have hope for the future (even though that’s technically not part of the job description).
As you probably know, living with MS or any chronic disease is anything but easy. I have hard days just like anyone. However, I refuse to give up. And I believe that I do a very good job of helping others with MS adopt that positive attitude. Contagious positivity has become my passion.
When I was brainstorming names for my blog, I thought about “Love My MS Life,” but then I dismissed it. Because I don’t “love” my MS life. I wish I didn’t have this disease, I wish no one did…the injections, the uncertainty, the exacerbations that seemingly come out of nowhere. No thanks.
But then I thought again. It’s true that I don’t love MS, but I do love my life, and MS is a very big part of my life that may never go away.
That’s why I love my MS life. And that’s why you should love yours too.
Love and hope,
Tricia

Welcome to the blogosphere! 🙂 There are quite a few of us out there with chronic illnesses who are determined NOT to let our disabilities get in our way. I’m glad to see another realistic but positive disability-related blog out here for the rest of us to enjoy.
Can’t wait to see what’s next for you!
Way to go Tricia! You continue to inspire me.
Looking forward to reading your blog. Good luck. xoxoxo!!
Love it!
I didn’t know if I should say this on the blog, but I remember when you bought the condo you said you wanted to be where your son could go through 7 years of school and not have to worry about transportation even if you ended up in a wheelchair, or unable to see well enough to drive. I think where you are today is a testament to your strength and determination. I so admire you! Rock on. Nancy

Shakespeare Sonnet 116
Let me not to marriage of true minds admit impediments.
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.
William Shakespeare
(1564 – 1616)
In today’s words, Real Love does not change with circumstances.
